Peer Support Network

The Peer Support Network aims to enable and promote opportunities for people with lived experience, families, carers, and services to share learning and resources to grow peer support and build more resilient communities in Lambeth.  In order to achieve this we have been developing a Learning & Development Programme, accessible to all.  As part of this programme, we are very excited to host a Mindfulness workshop on Monday 27th April from  10:00am – 1pm at Mosaic Clubhouse. The workshop will be facilitated by Dr Tamara Russell.

We have received requests and feedback from members of the network around access to Mindfulness training  and information.  So based on your feedback, the session will include the following:

Session outline:

This workshop can accommodate up to 30 people

Delegates will learn about the context of mindfulness within health and social care, including  evidence base  research and the wider implementation of mindfulness. There will be a brief overview of the neural and psychological mechanisms underpinning mindfulness and its benefits. There will be a chance for individuals to practice mindfulness exercises and think about how they might implement mindfulness into their working day.

Learning outcomes

  • A brief overview of the growth of mindfulness within health
  • A brief introduction to the neuroscience literature that helps to understand the potential of this training
  • A personal experience of a number of exercises
  • Time to think and plan about how to weave mindfulness into the working day

Participants receive a booklet, audio materials with mindfulness exercises and pdf articles of the relevant literature (via Dropbox).

About Dr Russell

Dr. Tamara Russell is a clinical psychologist and mindfulness consultant specialising in working with health care staff and using neuroscience knowledge to inform the delivery of mindfulness. She is a Visiting Lecturer at King’s College London to the MSc in Mindfulness: Neuroscience and Clinical Applications.
