Highlights of the e-bulletin

News:

-            NHS England announced a mental health taskforce. The Taskforce will be chaired by Paul Farmer the CEO of mental health charity Mind and made up of health and community leaders and experts in the field of mental health. The Vice Chair will be Lambeth Councillor, Jacqui Dyer. Listening events for people with lived experience of mental health problems and carers will take place in London Friday 24 April, 11am to 3pm, hosted by Rethink Mental Illness.

-          The Annual Public Health Report for Southwark  and Lambeth 2013-14are out.   Southwark and Lambeth have quite similarly diverse populations and have seen great improvements in overall health over the last 50 years, but health inequalities still remain in both boroughs.  The reports aim to highlight the main inequalities in Southwark and Lambeth and  what may be driving them.  We welcome your comments and feedback:  PHAdmin@southwark.gov.uk

Evidence/Policy:

-          The Campaign to End Loneliness and the University of Kent has published  a new report that explores what is already known in both research and practice about identifying people experiencing loneliness. To download report:

Consultations 

-          No voice unheard, no right ignored – a consultation for people with learning disabilities, autism and mental health conditions: The Department of Health is seeking views to strengthen the rights of people with learning disabilities, autism and mental health issues to enable them to live independently. Events :

-            Invitation to NHS Lambeth CCG event: Equalities in health in Lambeth 23 April : We are holding an event on 23 April to share with Lambeth people our draft equalities objectives from 2015.  Patients, carers, patient groups, voluntary and community organisations, local residents and stakeholders are all welcome. Please sign up or help us spread the word among your networks and members.

-          Come and hear about our plans to improve equalities in health.  Give us your views on how we can monitor progress. Help us to plan services that work for people in relation to age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, religion or belief, pregnancy or maternity status. -          The Salome Gallery invites you to the Private View of Jason Clarke's exhibition.  Jason says, " every picture is personal, a piece of me, my innermost thoughts and feelings".  Jason's work was used by the Birmingham Rep for their brochure about Bedlam- a festival of mad ideas, 10.000 copies were printed and distributed across Birmingham . Exhibition by Jason Clarke. Venue: Salome Art Gallery             SHARP Team        308-312 Brixton Road . SW9 6AA  it runs from 8th April to 29th May 2015

-          Take part in a video to train NHS 111 Staff : Helplines Partnership and Mind are working together to develop an e-learning course on mental health for NHS 111 call handlers.                             -  Southwark Council welcome applications from arts organisations for the Arts and Culture Grants Programme 2015/16. They will consider grant applications from   Arts projects that solely benefit people living,

                          working or in education in the London Borough of Southwark,  Organisations that have  been operating for a minimum of two years •  Projects that meet the Cultural Strategy themes outlined in the Culture Commissioning Plan   Partnership /
