Is online mentoring for you?
How does it work?
Drawing on its extensive experience of volunteer mentoring, TimeBank recruits, trains and supports volunteers who have current or previous caring experience and who would like to act as mentors to other carers. Mentors are able to share their own experience and techniques that have helped them.
They offer face-to-face (Birmingham only) and online mentoring. Carers are matched with a volunteer mentor to help them take a fresh look at their own situations and identify goals. Mentoring enables carers to work through the difficulties they may be experiencing and receive support, as well as signposting to other sources of help.
What is involved?
Online volunteers should be available to give around three hours’ support over two months. Mentors will provide guidance and support to a maximum of five carers through a dedicated - and completely secure - web-based messaging site.
