Deaf Families Together Project

Deaf Parenting UK is a small charity that provides specialised support for Deaf Parents, focusing on helping Deaf parents/parents to be to support their children to achieve positive outcomes across all areas of their lives. DPUK works primarily with Deaf parents whose first language is British Sign Language and who face significant barriers around community inclusion and in developing parenting skills and capacity.

Deaf Parenting UK has been recognised by social care and health services as an expert organisation to approach when there is a need for specialist caseworkers to provide one-to one support, or advocacy to support professional casework with individual Deaf parents and their families.

They have set up a Deaf Families Together Project aimed for Deaf Families living in London and surrounding, and have successfully established one Deaf Parent Support Group in Hackney which has been funded by community charities, following its recognition by the community to provide a quality specialist service to meet the requirements of deaf families attending.  They are now planning to set up another Deaf Parent Support Group at a Children Centre in Waterloo, which will run from March 2015.

We know many Deaf parents would benefit from such information and it would be great to offer them the opportunity to access Deaf Parenting UK's services.
