City Lit ‘Taster Days’ FREE for carers at Woodlawns Centre
City Lit, one of the largest adult education colleges in London, are running a range of free courses at a number of different community venues in Lambeth. The courses are funded by Lambeth Council and are aimed at adults aged 18 and over, who live in Lambeth. The focus is on increasing your employability and supporting personal development.
Working in partnership with Lambeth Carers Hub, City Lit will be running two ‘taster’ days at Woodlawns Community Centre, where you can come along and get an idea of what’s on offer.
The first taster day on Tuesday 11th June 2013 will be a full day on Mindfulness.
On the Mindfulness course you will learn techniques that help you to manage stress, anxiety and other difficulties more effectively. Simple meditation practices can be integrated into your everyday life helping you become more aware of the present moment and experience the richness of life more fully.
On the second taster day, Tuesday 18th June 2013, we will be running two workshops, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
The workshops will be Coaching for Change and Reaching Your Potential.
The Coaching for Change workshop can help you to create change in your life and learn to adjust to change. Using coaching techniques on yourself or with friends is a great way to see how coaching can help you move forward in life with goals and confidence. You will practice some coaching tools and learn about the principles of effective coaching. You will be able to use these techniques with or without the support of a coach. (This course does not qualify you to become a coach).
The Reach Your Potential workshop will help you discover what 'reach my potential' means for you. You will explore how to set and work towards personal goals, and discover how you can gently overcome a lack of confidence and work towards stronger self-belief. You will identify small steps for change that can help you achieve your potential in life.
If you are interested in any of these workshops please contact 020 7642 0038 to reserve your place.
It is likely that these workshops will be very popular so please make sure you book in advance to ensure you get a place on the workshop of your choice.
City Lit are also offering courses at different community venues on: Active Citizenship; IT skills; Money Management; Award in Fitness and Physical Activity; Customer Service; Personal Effectiveness and Community Interpreting. If you are interested in any of these courses please contact Alison Backhouse email@example.com for more details.
