Carers’ Telephone Out Service

Carers are often isolated because of their caring responsibilities and may not easily be able to leave their home to access services. On behalf of the Carers' Hub, Crossroads Care - South Thames is developing a new service to support carers in this situation.

Social networking via the internet operates effectively for only a small part of the population.  Most of us are much happier to receive a reassuring phone call, have a conversation and share a joke with a friendly, trusted and familiar person.  Indeed, we may all have experienced the spontaneous conversation inspired by a stranger at a bus stop, at the supermarket or on the phone that has brightened our day.

Carers’ Hub Lambeth is now offering the opportunity for carers to access this friendly informal service provided by our Telephone Out volunteers.  We will match you with someone who shares your interests, respects your life style and can offer valuable support, information and advice.

All Telephone Out volunteers will be vetted and trained to deliver a confidential and professional service.  They will call you on an agreed day and time, to spend some talking with and focusing on what is important to you.  They will be good communicators and we are sure both you and they will enjoy your contact.  Should your needs change, or if you need more specialist advice and support, our Telephone Out volunteers will connect you to other members of our team to access our range of services.

If you believe you have the skills to communicate easily and effectively or would benefit from having a ‘virtual friend’, call us and we’ll make the match.

If you are interested in benefiting from or providing our Telephone Out or Advocacy Services, please call us now on 020 7642 0038 and we will set the wheels in motion.
