Job Description

Carers Hub Lambeth supports unpaid carers who are helping relatives, friends or neighbours who are elderly, have a disability, long term health condition, mental ill health or substance misuse. The Older Carers Peer Support Project is part of the Carers Hub Lambeth, providing added value for carers over 65. We are looking for someone who is passionate about managing volunteers and working with older adults with health and social care needs within a group setting. The aim of this project is to support carers over 65 delivering peer led groups, supported by a team of volunteers. You will oversee the development of setting up the support groups and recruiting, managing and training a team of volunteer community connectors in Lambeth.

Hours

35 hours a week Monday - Friday

Salary

£26,000 - £28,000 (depending on experience)

What we are looking for:

The ideal candidate will have experience leading a small project, volunteer management, community work, and/or working with vulnerable older adults with health and social care needs. You will need to be confident recruiting, training and supporting a small team of volunteers with a view to facilitate support groups for older carers. This role would suit someone who has previously worked as a Volunteer Coordinator, Care Assistant, and Adult/Elderly Support Worker, Group facilitator or Carer.

Knowledge Skills Abilities Required:

  • a good understanding of the health and social care needs of carers / older adults
  • knowledge and experience of working with volunteers (recruiting, inducting, supporting, supervising and training)
  • facilitate support groups
  • develop working relationships with partners, community groups, funders and other voluntary/statutory sectors
  • manage a small budget
  • use IT database programmes, interpret statistical information and provide reports
